From Friday 29 August to Sunday 31st August, 2008, four local Kiama students will be participating in the Oxfam Trailwalker Sydney 2008. Oxfam Trailwalker is a team endurance event in which teams of four complete a 100 km bush trail from Brooklyn on the Hawkesbury River, to Mosman on Sydney Harbour in less than 48 hours.
The aim of the event is to raise funds to help Oxfam Australia support disadvantaged communities overseas and in Australia.
Oxfam Australia is an independent, secular, non-government organisation working in 29 countries including Indigenous Australia. Oxfam believes that in a world rich in resources, poverty isn’t a fact of life but an injustice which must be overcome. Oxfam Australia’s vision is of a fair world where everyone is safe, secure, educated, healthy, heard and equal.
The Kiama team is walking the 100 km to fight poverty and it is going to be hard! We are aiming to raise $3000 and hope to finish the event in under 40 hours. Can you help by sponsoring the team?
The easiest way to make a donation is through our team page on the Trailwalker website. To find our team page and make a donation to our team go to www.kiamatrailblazers.com
While donating online, you can choose if you would like your name and donation amount to appear and you can even leave us a message of support. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
The team is putting a great deal of effort into training for the event which will to raise funds for a great cause and we would greatly appreciate your generous support.
We hope to receive local media coverage in the lead up to the event.
